The History of AREBI

  1. 1992

    The founding of AREBI was initiated by Drs. Ferry Sonneville (chairman of REI and FIABCI) together with the businesspeople of REI. AREBI was founded by acclamation, through a memorandum of agreement signed by its founders: (1) Drs. Ferry Sonneville; (2) Moh. S. Hidayat; (3) Drs. Enggartiasto Lukita; (4) Budiarsa Sastrawinata; (5) Ir. Sulistiyo Sidarto Mulya; (6) Velly Theisa; (7) Frans Mardi; (8) Tommy Sunyoto; (9) Inca W Sianipar; (10) Cynthia G Sonneville. It was then confirmed by the Minister of Public Housing, Ir Siswono Yudohusodo, on 17 November 1992, which also formed the interim board.

  2. 1994

    In 1994 the first Munas was held, to settle AREBI’s articles of association, its bylaws and its code of ethics, and to elect a new board. AREBI exists so that the property brokerage industry can contribute to national development and to the welfare of the Indonesian people, under the vision “AREBI as the home of professional and licensed property brokers”.

  3. 2012-2015

    The property broker profession in Indonesia has been recognised by the government through Permendag 51/M-DAG/PER/7/2017 on property brokerage firms (P4). To that end, between 2012 and 2015 AREBI worked with BKPM on SIUP4 licensing, completed the drafting of the RSKKNI, prepared the implementing guidelines and the association’s history, re-registered its articles and bylaws with KEMENKUMHAM, and registered the AREBI logo with the Directorate General of Intellectual Property (HKI).

    AREBI has held ten National Congresses, under these chairs : (1) Cynthia G Sonneville (1992-2000); (2) Tirta Setiawan (2000-2009); (3) Darmadi Darmawangsa (2009-2015); (4) Hartono Sarwono (2015-2018); (5) Lukas Bong (2021-2024); (6) Clement Francis (2024-2027)

  4. 2015

    AREBI has always worked for the professionalism of its members, and put it first. That effort, and a refusal to give up, ended with the SKKNI being ratified by the government — which let AREBI realise its ambition of founding LSP BPI in April 2015.

  5. AREBI also provides certification training, which became the Broker Properti Indonesia (BPI) training, its material aligned with the SKKNI so that the certificate meets the requirements for a competency assessment. The training is run by Pusdiklat AREBI, under the Yayasan Broker Properti Indonesia which AREBI founded.

  6. 2021

    In 2021 AREBI built its website and IT business, run professionally by its own PT. AREBI Digital Indonesia. AREBI Digital supports the association’s activities and opens co-broking as widely as possible to members through Multiple Listing Services (MLS)

    On the authentic record of the date the Minister of Public Housing confirmed its founding, it follows that AREBI was born on 17 November 1992
